Musica de Camara’s mission is to present classical music, created by Puerto Rican, Hispanic and African American instrumentalists, singers and composers within a professional venue.
It is my privilege, at its 40th anniversary in 2020, to be named Executive Director of Musica De Camara. It is also an honor to continue the work of the great, late founder, soprano Eva De La O, who passed away in 2019. Musica De Camara looks forward to continuing to present the best and most talented of Latin American musicians and composers. We will always look for the musical voices that aren’t always heard but need to be heard, and deservedly so. There is so much beautiful music from Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, The Dominican Republic, Cuba, Haiti, etc. and it is our mission to promote and present masterworks from all of these countries. From Ginastera to Brouwer, Revueltas to Cordero, Villa-Lobos to Golijov, León to Piazzolla, Guastavino to Sierra, Casseus to Landestoy, there are countless masterpieces that are not often programed in conventional concert series. We seek to bring these works, played by mostly Latin American artists, to the general public and also to bring these musicians and music to underserved communities.
We look forward to our 2020 concert season and we’re sure our concert goers will be treated to the highest quality of musicians and musicianship.
